Light bulbs have come a long way since they were first invented. Today, more homes are making the transition to LED lighting for a variety of reasons. Although this type of lighting can require a slightly higher upfront cost, it often ends up paying for itself quite quickly because of their efficiency. In fact, with every new project we take on, we strongly recommend making the switch to LED from incandescent or fluorescent light bulbs.
A More Efficient Source
To measure the efficiency of a light source, our team examines the ratio of the heat output versus the light output. The more light a bulb puts out and the less heat it emits, the more efficient it is. This translates to lower electricity bills and increased safety. For LED lighting, the efficiency rating is about 50 percent.
While that might not sound like much, 50 percent efficiency is actually incredibly impressive. To compare that to other common lights, incandescent bulbs offer only two to three precent efficiency. And fluorescent lights are just 15 to 20 percent efficient.
A Long Lifespan
Whether you work with us to install a light fixture with replaceable bulbs or you opt for non-replaceable options, LED lighting will offer you a much longer life span. Many of these bulbs last 50,000 to 70,000 hours or longer. They are also far less likely to burn out than their predecessors. With such a long lifespan, you’ll find yourself replacing your bulbs less often, saving you money in the long run.
